What our badges mean — and what they don't.
If you are hiring someone to care for a person you love, please read this before you rely on anything you see here.
What a badge tells you
A Member badge means a caregiver has joined NAICP — a professional community. A Coursework badge means they completed our curated learning modules and a short knowledge check. Every module cites the published sources it draws from, so you can judge the material yourself.
What a badge does not tell you
It is not a certification, a license, a background check, or a guarantee of skill, competence, or conduct. NAICP does not vet, supervise, employ, or take responsibility for any member. A badge is a starting point for your own screening — never a substitute for it.
Before you hire, please do your own screening
- Run your own background and reference checks.
- Interview in person, and trust your read of the situation.
- Verify any license or credential directly with the issuing body.
- Put your agreement — scope, hours, rate — in writing.
Verifying a coursework badge
If a caregiver shows you a coursework certificate with a verification number, you can confirm it is genuine at naicp.org/verify. That confirms only that the person completed our curated coursework — nothing more.
